State Bank of Georgia opened for business on November 5th, 2007. The main office is located at 131 Gingercake Road, Fayetteville, Georgia, just off State Highway 54, on the western edge of the City of Fayetteville.  This is the major east-west corridor between Fayetteville and Peachtree City and, unquestionably, one the main growth corridors in the county, anchored by Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Our market includes Fayetteville, Peachtree City and Tyrone.

The concept of a new culturally diverse bank started in the Spring of 2006 by current CFO, Kevin Sharpe.  From an initial meeting at his kitchen table, the organizing group eventually grew to 21 business leaders located throughout the South Metropolitan area of greater Atlanta.  The primary market areas for State Bank of Georgia are Fayetteville and Fayette County, along with those counties contiguous to Fayette.  This area has experienced tremendous growth in population, residential housing and small business opportunities over the last decade.  At the same time, dominance by larger regional banks has also grown.  The emergence, rapid growth and success of our local community banks over the last several years is an indication of this markets desire for community based banking.  We plan to fill this need as a locally owned and operated community based bank.  We offer state of the art technology banking services with friendly, personal service, local decision making and competitively priced loans and deposits.  We will be able to respond quickly to changes in our market by focusing on the communities we serve, unlike the larger, regional institutions. 

Kevin Sharpe is the Chief Financial Officer of State Bank of Georgia.  He has over 25 years of banking experience. He previously served as CFO of Capitol City Bank and Trust.    Mike Teal is Chief Lending Officer and has over 37 years of banking experience, primarily in the south metro area of Atlanta.  All three are long-time residents of Fayette County.   Lydia Morris, Senior Retail Marketing Manager, and Eileen Kempf, Senior Operations Officer, bring in excess of 58 years of banking experience to State Bank of Georgia.  Under their leadership, they have assembled a team of highly experienced banking professionals who share the vision of creating a “High-tech, High-touch” exceptional community bank with broad based appeal.

Our board consists of a good mix of business leaders throughout the greater Atlanta area, predominately from the south metro area.  They are all active and have built successful businesses, which will contribute to the success of our bank.  The professional and cultural diversity of this group will allow us to have a broad based appeal in our market place.
